ANNEX F: INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S FRAMEWORK (IPF)

Summary

Kenya has established an Indigenous People's Framework (IPF) to proactively address the potential for adverse impacts on Indigenous Peoples from development projects, even if their presence in project areas is not always expected. The approach outlines a structured process including screening, social assessment, and Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) to ensure impacts are avoided or mitigated and benefits are culturally appropriate. This framework is in progress as a guiding document for future sub-projects.
