Emissions measurement and reporting approaches for the public sector

Summary

The UK public sector faces the challenge of needing clearer guidance to effectively monitor, report, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to meet national net zero targets, including a 75% reduction in public sector building emissions by 2037. To address this, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero commissioned the Energy Saving Trust to conduct a review of current emissions measurement and reporting approaches. This final report presents findings from the review, which included analyzing 16 frameworks and consulting 30 experts, to inform the future development of comprehensive guidance for public sector organizations.
