Heavy-Duty Hydrogen Station Equipment Performance Device (HD HyStEP) Specifications and Design Considerations

The growing use of hydrogen for heavy-duty transportation necessitates new fueling stations, but current validation tools are inadequate for the new high-flow HD fueling protocols. This report outlines the design specifications for a new Heavy-Duty Hydrogen Station Equipment Performance (HD HyStEP) device to address this gap, allowing for the validation of HD hydrogen fueling stations against standards like SAE J2601-5 for both 70 MPa and 35 MPa vehicles. This design effort is currently in progress, aiming to facilitate the creation of a mobile testing unit capable of handling varied HD fueling conditions.
