Summary

Kenya faces the challenge of building and maintaining a reliable and secure national power transmission grid to support socio-economic development and regional energy trade. KETRACO addresses this by planning, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the country's electricity transmission infrastructure. As of June 2023, 3,346.7 km of transmission lines and 41 substations have been commissioned, with a target to add 2,056.5 km more lines by 2028, while achieving 98.7% system availability and a KES 8.02 billion profit before tax for the year.
