South Africa is facing the challenge of developing a financially viable and environmentally sustainable kelp farming industry, which currently suffers from various gaps and inefficiencies. In response, the South African Kelp Farming Project (KFP) initiated a detailed market assessment and value chain analysis, culminating in a roadmap for the industry's expansion and strengthening. This project is currently in its second phase, actively working towards establishing commercial kelp farming.
