Summary

South Korea faces unprecedented uncertainty from complex domestic and international changes, demanding urgent science and technology innovation for sustainable national and societal development. Internal pressures include demographic shifts and economic stagnation, while external factors involve global supply chain transformations and intensifying technological hegemony. KISTEP, through comprehensive big data analysis and expert review, has identified three major STI policy agendas and associated policy tasks for the current year. These agendas aim to secure technological sovereignty, innovate the national R&D system, and enhance S&T's role in achieving national happiness and security. These identified agendas serve as strategic recommendations for the South Korean government and the science and technology community.
