The effect of energy efficiency measures on summertime overheating in English homes: Summary
Summary
This report investigates whether winter energy efficiency measures in English homes increase the risk of summertime overheating. Through a literature review and re-analysis of the EFUS2017 dataset, the study found that the overall energy efficiency rating and individual energy efficiency measures did not significantly increase overheating risk in the surveyed homes. However, increased loft and wall insulation showed potential to reduce overheating in bedrooms, while flats, particularly top-floor ones, exhibited higher overheating prevalence.
