In response, the country has updated its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to strengthen its ambitions for GHG emission reduction and climate adaptation, setting both unconditional and conditional targets for 2030 based on 1990 levels. This comprehensive update, developed with broad stakeholder engagement, outlines measures across five priority sectors and aims for a low-carbon, climate-resilient development pathway, having already achieved a significant reduction with 2016 emissions at 39% of 1990 levels.
