MONITORING HUMAN CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS CoCO2 User activities and the Decision Support Blueprint City Workshop: Supporting city-scale GHG inventories - opportunities and challenges
Summary
The CoCO2 project addresses the challenge of discrepancies between inventory-based and observation-based greenhouse gas emission estimates, especially for land CO2 and CH4, which are crucial for climate policy. It aims to develop a prototype Copernicus CO2 service that provides observation-based emission data and a Decision Support Blueprint to help national and sub-national users verify and improve their GHG inventories. The project is currently in progress, having already identified and corrected significant errors in some global emission estimates, such as reducing EIA's fossil CO2 estimates by 1 Gt CO2.
