State-Tribal Collaboration on Energy 101

Summary

Many Tribal Nations in the U.S. face significant energy inequities, with thousands of homes lacking electricity and high energy costs, often compounded by regulatory and jurisdictional barriers from state governments. This project, led by the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) and funded by the DOE Office of Policy, seeks to identify these state-level impediments and propose collaborative approaches for state governments and Tribes to advance energy projects and policies, emphasizing the importance of Tribal sovereignty. The initiative is currently in progress, aiming to facilitate better energy outcomes for Tribal communities.
