KEPRO – Compliance to SWM Act

Summary

Kenya faces a significant challenge in managing post-consumer packaging waste and ensuring compliance with its Sustainable Waste Management Act. KEPRO, a Producer Responsibility Organization, has been established to collectively manage the recovery and end-of-life processing of packaging waste from its over 450 members. The initiative is currently in progress, having already recovered 9,000+ metric tons of plastic waste and disbursed over KES 85.59 Million in subsidies to recyclers, alongside efforts in community engagement and awareness.
