Summary

Honduras is updating its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to actively address global climate change and its impacts, despite being a low emitter. The updated plan, covering the period 2021-2030, now fully integrates the land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) sector and aims for a total emissions reduction of 4,845.5 Gg CO2-eq by 2030, conditional on sufficient climate finance. The country is also engaging in international cooperative approaches, having already made its REDD+ results for 2021-2023 eligible for international carbon transactions.
