NORTH EASTERN REGION DISTRICT SDG INDEX REPORT 2023–24

Summary

The North Eastern Region of India faces significant developmental challenges and disparities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. To address this, NITI Aayog, along with MDoNER and UNDP India, implemented the District SDG Index, a data-driven tool to monitor and accelerate progress at a granular level across the region's districts. The second edition of the Index (2023-24) shows substantial progress, with 85% of included districts now categorized as 'Front Runners,' demonstrating the initiative's effectiveness in fostering localized development and targeted interventions.
