CLEAN COOKING WEEK CONCEPT NOTE - Implementing Clean Cooking Strategies and County Energy Plans: Transformation, Inclusivity and Empowerment
Summary
Kenya faces a significant challenge with 65.6% of its households relying on unclean cooking fuels, leading to over 26,000 annual deaths and environmental degradation. To address this, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and partners are organizing the 6th Clean Cooking Week (CCW) in August 2025 in Kilifi County. This event aims to accelerate the adoption of clean cooking solutions by creating an enabling policy and market environment, with a national target of universal access to clean cooking by 2028. The event is currently in the planning stage, building on previous editions' successes in raising awareness and fostering collaborations.
