Defining and identifying complex-to-decarbonise homes and retrofit solutions

Summary

The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero commissioned research to define and identify 'complex-to-decarbonise' (CTD) homes, which are difficult to upgrade for energy efficiency and low-carbon heating due to various physical, locational, occupant, or behavioural attributes. The study developed a new CTD terminology and an identification framework, aiming to simplify the process of upgrading these homes and prevent them from being left behind in the transition to Net Zero. This research project has been completed, providing tools to better understand and address the challenge.
