Summary

Mozambique faces significant challenges from global climate change, with extreme climate events causing increasing losses and hindering development and poverty reduction efforts. The country has updated its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 1) to address these issues, outlining numerous adaptation, mitigation, and cross-cutting actions, projects, and policies with an estimated investment demand of USD 7.586 billion for 2020-2025. The implementation of these actions is currently in progress, but is conditional on international climate support due to existing financial deficits and increasing external borrowing needs.
