Summary

India's livestock sector, a major contributor to agricultural GVA, suffers from low productivity and significant economic losses due to diseases, exacerbated by a severe shortage of veterinary infrastructure. To address this, NITI Aayog has developed a comprehensive framework and guidelines for telemedicine in livestock health and safety. This initiative aims to utilize India's widespread tele-density to provide remote veterinary consultations and services, with the development of a web-based system named "NITIVeT" currently underway.
