Summary

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations awarded TDA Research, Inc. grant DE-CD0000054 for a carbon capture pilot at the Dry Fork Power Station in Gillette, Wyoming. The project aimed to design, build, and operate a large-scale sorbent-based post-combustion carbon capture system to remove over 90% of CO2 emissions with >95% purity from flue gas. The system was designed to process approximately 158,000 metric tons of CO2 per annum and validate performance over at least 2,000 hours of continuous operation, with a goal of achieving TRL 7. However, the project was terminated on May 25, 2025, midway through its initial Phase 1, before completing the engineering design package.
