Fire Resistance Development for UL 790 Burning Brand Test

Summary

Developing new fire-resistant roofing materials is expensive due to the high cost of repeated UL 790 burning brand tests. This project addressed the challenge by developing computational tools to simulate heat transfer during these tests. NREL created and validated a Python-based heat transfer model with data from an industry partner, and the project is now completed, providing design guidance for new materials.
