Summary

New Zealand is addressing the global climate change challenge by submitting its second Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement. The approach is to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to 51–55 per cent below gross 2005 levels by 2035, an economy-wide target covering all sectors and gases. This commitment is currently planned for the period 2031-2035 and represents an increased ambition from its previous NDC.
