Intelligent, grid-friendly, modular extreme fast charging system with solid-state DC protection Final Report

Summary

The challenge is developing efficient and compact extreme fast charging (XFC) infrastructure for electric vehicles, overcoming issues like grid capacity and space. This project developed a 1MVA XFC station design that connects directly to a 13.2kV medium voltage grid using a solid-state transformer (SST) and employs intelligent solid-state DC circuit breakers for protection. The project culminated in the design, prototyping, testing, and shipment of the integrated XFC system to a demonstration site.
