Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Launch of rapid results initiative on solid waste management

Kenya is grappling with significant solid waste management challenges stemming from industrialization, population growth, and changing consumption patterns, which hinder its ability to maintain a clean environment. In response, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, in collaboration with County Governments, has launched a 100-day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to implement an action plan for environmentally sound waste management. This initiative, currently in progress, aims to enhance public awareness, monitor compliance, and enforce regulations across all 47 counties, building on existing strategies and minimum requirements.
