Summary

Kenya faces a significant increase in national electricity demand, projected to grow by 5.34% annually between 2022-2041, requiring diversification of power generation. The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) is implementing Kenya's Nuclear Power Programme to integrate nuclear energy into the mix by 2037. A Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) is currently in progress, with a final draft report completed, to address the unique environmental and socio-economic issues of this program.
