Responsible AI for All: Adopting the Framework – A use case approach on Facial Recognition Technology

NITI Aayog, India's policy think tank, is addressing the ethical and societal challenges posed by the pervasive adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), which carries risks to fundamental rights. The organization is developing and testing a framework of seven Responsible AI (RAI) principles, using the 'Digi Yatra' airport program as a case study to evaluate the efficacy of these principles in real-world applications and propose recommendations for safe and responsible deployment. This discussion paper is currently seeking public comments to refine the framework.
