Summary

This report assesses the current status of intellectual property creation and utilization in South Korean universities to improve industry-academia cooperation and inform policy. Based on an annual survey conducted since 2006, the report provides comprehensive statistics on university-held intellectual property, patent applications and registrations, and technology transfer activities for 2020. It reveals a consistent increase in IP ownership and technology transfer activities over the past five years, though the return on R&D investment saw a slight decrease.
