Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION laying down a framework to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy

Summary

The European Union is facing a severe energy crisis due to geopolitical tensions and surging energy prices, compounded by cumbersome administrative procedures that slow down renewable energy projects. To address this, the European Commission has proposed a temporary Council Regulation aimed at accelerating the deployment of renewable energy by simplifying permit-granting processes, particularly for solar installations and heat pumps. This initiative is currently in the planning stage, building on earlier REPowerEU targets to increase the share of renewables to 45% by 2030.
