Integrating diverse energy sources, especially renewables, poses challenges to electric grid stability, requiring advanced emulation of conventional power generation. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) developed a PLC-based governor model to simulate the dynamic behavior of natural gas-driven HRSGs and combustion turbines on a hardware-in-the-loop testbed. This work, which provided insights into grid stability and potential integration measures, will be integrated into NREL's ARIES platform for comprehensive studies on energy source interactions.
