PUBLIC NOTICE ACCREDITATION OF NEMA AS THE NATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION ENTITY UNDER UNITED NATIONS FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE UNFCCC’s ADAPTATION FUND BOARD ACCREDITS NEMA AS A NATIONAL IMPLEMENTING ENTITY (NIE)
Summary
Kenya faces severe climate change impacts like floods and droughts. To address this, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) was accredited as a National Implementing Entity (NIE) by the UNFCCC Adaptation Fund Board on March 17, 2012. This allows NEMA to directly access and manage funds for climate change adaptation projects in Kenya. NEMA is currently establishing the necessary internal structures and guidelines to operationalize its role as an NIE.
