Utility-scale solar facilities face increased siting and operational costs due to a significant portion of avian mortality remains, particularly 'feather spots,' remaining unidentified. This project developed and implemented a genetic-based framework to identify avian species, their population of origin, and individual numbers from these feather spots, with the goal of informing siting, mitigation, and conservation. The project is completed, having successfully identified 93% of previously unknown avian samples to species.
