CHAMPIONING CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION KENYA EXPERIENCE

Summary

Kenya faces significant challenges from climate change, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) addresses this by serving as a National Implementing Entity for the Adaptation Fund and an Accredited Entity for the Green Climate Fund, enabling it to mobilize climate finance. NEMA is currently implementing an Integrated Programme that has established 27 'Adaptation Villages' in vulnerable counties to provide holistic climate solutions, including solarized boreholes and climate-smart agriculture training, fostering community resilience and knowledge transfer.
