Summary

Kenya faces a growing challenge in managing hazardous waste due to industrialization and the need to comply with environmental regulations, coupled with a lack of adequate commercial treatment facilities. To address this, Scorpio Solutions Limited proposes to construct a new incinerator plant in Meru County to provide a much-needed and affordable solution for treating various hazardous wastes including industrial, agricultural, and medical refuse. This Environmental and Social Impact Assessment report has been submitted to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for review and approval, indicating the project is currently in the planning stage.
