Summary

This project aims to address the challenge of storing industrial CO₂ emissions by establishing commercial-scale geological storage in Illinois. The approach involves developing and submitting Class VI Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit applications for two sites, One Earth Energy (OEE) and Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC), which together target storing over 6.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually. The permit applications for OEE are currently undergoing technical review with a decision projected by June 2026, while documentation for PSGC has been delivered to the facility.
