Following a disaster, the Lahaina community faces the challenge of rebuilding its energy infrastructure to be more resilient. The U.S. Department of Energy and the National Laboratory of the Rockies are providing technical assistance and conducting analysis, engaging with local partners and the community, to identify energy solutions and inform decision-making, particularly concerning microgrids and grid hardening. This multi-year project is currently in progress, with workshops held in late 2025 to gather community input on various energy pathways and detailed microgrid analyses planned.
