BIRDWOOD LOAD FLEXIBILITY REPORT CARD PLATFORM

Summary

Australia faced low participation from Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in flexible energy demand initiatives due to high assessment costs and complexity. This project developed the Birdwood Load Flexibility Report Card Platform to simplify the identification and evaluation of flexible energy solutions, aiming to reduce assessment costs by 60-80% and unlock 2-5 MW of flexible demand. However, the project was ultimately discontinued as standalone load flexibility for SMEs proved not commercially viable, with greater benefits found in bundling with increasingly cost-effective solar PV and battery storage solutions.
