Summary

India faces a significant challenge in its emergency and injury care system, marked by fragmented services, a shortage of trained personnel, and inadequate funding, contributing to numerous preventable deaths. To address this, NITI Aayog commissioned a country-wide assessment of 100 secondary and tertiary level hospitals across 29 States and 2 Union Territories. The completed study identified critical gaps and provides a framework for policy recommendations, revealing that emergency cases account for a substantial portion of hospital admissions.
