Final Technical Report: SolarAPP+ Enhancements and Commercialization

Summary

The challenge addressed is the overburdened permitting processes for distributed solar PV systems, leading to delays and increased costs. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) developed SolarAPP+, an automated software platform, to streamline permitting for residential PV and battery storage systems. The project is completed, having successfully enhanced the software, increased its adoption to 256 jurisdictions across 13 states, and transitioned its management to a non-profit foundation, demonstrating significant reductions in permit review times and installation costs.
